Chaos Booster Draft League

At the start of each league: Paradox will create a Chaos Pool of 15 card booster packs. Packs will range from current Play Booster to recent Draft Boosters and can include both Collector Boosters and specialty set boosters but will always be 15-card packs.

Paradox will assign a point value ranging from 4 to 20 points for each unique booster pack. Example: Any Outlaws at Thunder Junction Play booster pack is 4 points while any Bloomburrow Collector Booster is 16 points. The point value of all packs will be announced and posted at the start of the league and will not change during that league.

The size of the Chaos Pool will be: Number of league participants x3 packs per round x3 for # of rounds. Example: A 10 player League would have a Chaos Pool of ninety, 15 card booster packs.

A Chaos Booster Draft is a Magic: the Gathering booster draft where all players do not receive the same product but instead are randomly given booster packs. It is possible that a player could get 3 packs from the same set from the Chaos Pool but that would only be by chance. Players use those packs to take part in a booster draft, build 40 card decks, and then play league matches using only the contents from the current round draft.

You’ll receive 3 booster packs from the Chaos Pool at the season’s first draft. The 2nd & 3rd Chaos Drafts will allow you to spend points you earn from playing & reporting your matches (read below) to select at least 1 of your packs and any of your 3 packs you are not able to choose will be assigned at random just like in round one. You may spend points prior to the start of the 2nd & 3rd round drafts if you choose, but you may not acquire more than 1 pack of any unique set although you could select all 3 of your packs as long as no two came from the same unique Magic set.

You will have 2 weeks to report 4 matches against other players from your draft pod. You may play those games during our weekly league night or use our Discord server or other contact to arrange meeting to play your games. Your matches must be played at Paradox and against players from your draft pod and not any other draft pod from the league.

Pods will be assigned each round based on records. We’ll use a modified Swiss scoring system: 3 points per win, 1 point per draw, and 1 point per match reported. This is also the scoring system used to gain points to spend on booster packs from the Chaos Pool.

It is not necessary to report all 4 matches to continue to participate in the league. You may not report more than 4 matches per round. A match is a best-of-3 series of games against a single opponent.

You will fill out a deck registration form with your draft pool and may take your decks home. You may not add cards from outside the draft to your decks but you are free to change your deck using the cards from your draft at any point. You will use the contents of your current round draft for that rounds matches only.

Your matches must be reported to Paradox staff when they are done. The winner of the match reports the match. We will provide match slips to use. All matches must be reported by the end of business hours on the Sunday prior to the next round draft.

Dedicated league night is Wednesday.

The 1st, 3rd, & 5th Wednesdays at 6:15PM will be the drafts for each round.

You are required to take part in the drafts and after that you can stay and play your games or leave and arrange your games over the next 2 weeks.

If you miss a draft, you can choose 3 Standard Play booster Packs from Paradox, but you are not eligible to play any matches or earn any prizes that round. You can still earn points in any round you are present both for that round’s prizes and final standings.

At the end of all 3 Chaos Rounds, the Top 8 scoring players will take place in a final event to determine this season’s “ruler of All-Chaos”.

You will build a 60 card Chaos Deck using all cards drafted throughout the current season.

This event is single-elimination & will be scheduled to take place before the start of the next season.
