Halloween might be over, but we’ve got one last haunting planned! Open House is the perfect opportunity to bring a friend to check out Magic: the Gathering either for the first time or the first time in years. We’ve got all the tools for them to learn to play and all the rewards for you to help teach them. It’s also a great weekend to start because in just one week our Duskmourn, House of Horrors Prerelease takes place so inspiring friends now sets them up for an awesome time at Prerelease!
What’s Open House?
Teaching Magic: the Gathering is a one-on-one experience & while we’d always love to be the teachers, we need your help! We’re putting our Magic loving players to work to teach the next generation why we love this game so much because no one can duplicate their passion! We’ve designed Open House for you to bring a new player and help them learn to play while rewarding both of you for taking this step.
For more than 30 years, fans have thrilled to the incredible game play of Magic: the Gathering. It’s the world’s greatest fantasy card game, it’s the gold standard for all card games, and it’s spawned generations of players. Magic combines the strategy of Chess with the luck of Poker. It challenges players to use math, imagination, strategic planning, and more skills to build decks and challenge their opponents. If you’ve ever thought about trying Magic but you’ve been intimidated and didn’t know where to start, Open House is perfect. You don’t need to bring anything with you but you are likely to leave with a new hobby in tow.
Entry Details
Time: 10AM — 1PM
There’s no pairings so there’s no need to be here at 10AM on the nose. We’ve blocked out this 3 hours for anyone to bring new players and have space to play with others doing the same.
Entry Fee: Buy 2 Jumpstart booster packs
There’s no additional cost for the event and you’ll earn plenty of rewards to show our appreciation for both players teaching and learning.
Format:
First, you’ll teach your friend you brought along to play by playing against them, then you’ll play with them against a pair of other Open House attendees so you can teach them from the same side of the table.
Play a one-on-one match with the player you came with. Play a 2-Headed giant game where the person you came with is your partner.
Entry Prizes
All attendees will earn the following just for participating. Winning and losing has no bearing on Open House, it’s a day of joy and sharing our love of Magic.
